Buy your electric bike with confidence of knowing it meets Australian safety standards

Woolys Wheels Electric Bikes

With all the negative news surrounding the hazards of charging E-bikes, it's little wonder buyers might be hesitant to purchase an electric mobility product. Woolys Wheels is an Authorised Specialized and Giant electric bicycle retailer whose bicycles, chargers and batteries have undergone rigorous testing and certification to meet relevant Australian Safety Standards.

The NSW Government has also introduced it's own set of safety standards coming into effect February 2026, and Giant and Specialized are already in the process of certification, so you can be assured you are receiving a premium quality product that if used and charged as per the manufacturers instruction in the Owners Manual, will provide trouble-free operation.

Here are some of the simple steps everyone with an E-bike should follow:

  1. Only charge your e-bike until it’s fully charged.
  2. Do not leave your e-bike charging overnight and do not leave it charging unsupervised (i.e., when nobody is home). Most bikes will charge within 2-3 hours but if timing is awkward, put the charger on a timer that will automatically shut it off
  3. Don’t charge batteries at temperatures below 0°C (32°F) or above 40°C (105°F).
  4. Only use the battery, charger, and charging cord that were designed for, and came with, the device, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  5. Don’t charge an e-bike with a battery system that’s been tampered with or modified. If you’ve lost the charging cord, contact a bike shop or the manufacturer for a replacement. And if you’ve crashed your bike and fear the battery may have been damaged, take it to a reputable shop to have it checked out.
  6. Consult your owners manual for complete instructions on correctly charging your E-bike.
