Pirelli have released their SmartTUBE, a premium solution for road and mountaion bikes for cyclists who prefer using the standard tubed clincher setup and want to improve the performance of their bikes as well as those who are looking for a light and compact spare tube for tubeless-ready tyres.
By replacing the standard butyl inner tube material with TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane), an advanced plastic material characterized by elasticity and mechanical strength, the result is an inner tube that can be up to 70% lighter, up to 50% more compact and as resistant against punctures as an equivalent tube made of butyl. The lighter weight offers benefits of increased acceleration and braking.
The tubes are compatible in both rim and disc brake wheelsets and come in 700C, 29" and 27.5" (650B) sizes.
